I woke up from a dream about drowning and wrote down this song. Stylistically it's not what we as a band are going for so we don't play it live anymore, but I love Andreas' guitar work and I'm proud of the lyrics.
lyrics
V1
Call the coast guard
Say I'm drowning in the ocean all alone.
Listen closely
You can hear the waves through the telephone.
Call my mother
Say I won't be visiting this time next year.
If she cries
Let her know that I'm much happier out here.
:Chorus:
Slipping underneath the waves
I've reached the bone with this close shave
Think I'll carve my self a new face
Find a new place to disappear
Ask our elders "what's the point"?
We're not the saviors you anoint
I'll find my own way
Write a new day and close the book.
V2
Sink a little
But somehow stay just a gasp ahead.
Think about it
It's just the essence of, where my choices led.
Drink a little
This salt is my final, toast to all of you.
If you shared it
Maybe finally I could make a promise true.
:Chorus:
Slipping underneath the waves
I've reached the bone with this close shave
Think I'll carve my self a new face
Find a new place to disappear
Ask our elders "what's the point"?
We're not the saviors you anoint
I'll find my own way
Write a new day and close the book.
V3
Drop your eyelids
Let them cease the stinging of the painful green.
It's not easy
But it's not as hard as never getting sleep.
Drop your arms now
It's ok to let the waters take your breath
It's been too long since I could say
That I was equally impressed.
:Chorus:
Slipping underneath the waves
I've reached the bone with this close shave
Think I'll carve my self a new face
Find a new place to disappear
Ask our elders "what's the point"?
We're not the saviors you anoint
You'll find you own way
Write a new day and close the book.

Been away for a while got some more memory so I'm back! What better way to celebrate than buying The Holophonics Discography. Fun Ska cover songs and some awesome original songs too! Rhokeheart
